Sarah Staar IM Newsletter – Have you ever felt like this?

Have you ever had one of those days?

You know, one of those days you didn’t feel like doing anything…

In fact it was a day where you had tons of stuff to do…

But you ended up doing nothing…

And then at the end of the day you’re really annoyed with yourself…

Well guess what…

I sometimes have days like that too…

In fact I felt like that for a few days two weeks ago…

How did I snap out of?

I get up at 5.30 in the morning..
And go for a cold plunge in an outdoor unheated swimming pool…

Believe me here in London, outdoor swimming pools are very cold…

I’ve also joined the gym!!
I’m now getting regular exercise 3 to 4 times a week…

The results?

Wow!!

My productivity in the office has shot through the roof…
And you know what…
I feel a lot more positive, and upbeat…

But it’s all about making a commitment to yourself…

My commitment is every day I get lots of exercise…
And every morning I either visit the gym or go for a cold plunge in an outdoor swimming pool…

In fact yesterday I was swimming at 6.30 in the morning in the pouring rain…

When I make a commitment to myself…
I keep it…

I think the same is true with Internet marketing…

It’s very easy to purchase a training course….

Just watch the training videos….

Not take action…

You know what I’m talking about…

We’ve all done it….

Life changing events happen when we make commitments…

When I decided to learn Internet marketing I made a number of commitments to myself…

And you know what?
I stuck to them…
In fact I wasn’t always successful…

But I carried on and on and on and eventually I started to make a lot of money…

For me this was a life changing event.

Is it time for you to make a life changing commitment?

Here’s the weird thing…
I used to hate exercise….

In fact the only exercise I used to get was walking from my bedroom to my office…

But now..
I’m really enjoying exercise…

And I’m really enjoying the mindset and the clarity it’s giving me when I working…

Have a wonderful day whatever you’re doing,
I’m off to the gym now….

Talk soon,

Sarah Staar IM Newsletter – He gave me a weird look and said no

Have you ever been afraid to ask for something?

  • Asking someone out on a date…
  • Trying to close a big sale….

Have you ever been afraid to take action?

  • Launching a new product…
  • Putting on a workshop….

Have you ever procrastinated?

Well from personal experience I can definitely say yes to all of the above.

In fact I procrastinated for two days before writing this newsletter….

But why?

Sometimes I find myself overthinking things…

Coming up with every reason I can think of not to take action…

I know a lot of people hate rejection…

In fact when it comes down to it I think a lot of people are scared of
failure..

However I found that some of my biggest successes have come directly from
failure…

Was I successful when I first tried Internet marketing?

Definitely not…

In fact I must of failed 10 or 15 times before I had any glimmer of
success…

My rejection therapy

Here’s the thing…

Most people fear rejection, myself included…

Over the last couple of months I’ve been trying a really interesting
experiment…

Whenever I go out, I try and get at least one objection from a complete
stranger…

The other day when I was in my local supermarket, Sainsbury’s…

I asked one of the supervisors if he could give me a tour of the warehouse
at the back of the store..

He said no..

Earlier today I went to Costa coffee asked for a 50% discount…

They said no…

I’ve been doing crazy experiments like this for the last couple of
months…

At first it was really hard….

However now it’s become second nature and relatively easy…

And occasionally people say yes…

even to crazy requests….

Back in April when I was in LA…

I was at a supermarket with a friend and asked for a discount on my
shopping..

The checkout lady asked me why…

I said because I was from out-of-town…

She then proceeded to pull out her staff discount card and swiped it
through the checkout to give me a discount….

Another time I was at a workshop and they’d run out of coffee cups…

The organiser asked if I could try and get a few paper cups from the local
Starbucks..

She said you can probably only ask for five or six…

Can you guess what I did…

I went into the Starbucks and asked for 200 coffee cups, for free…

The guy behind the counter gave me a weird look and said no…

I asked him why…

He couldn’t give me an answer…

He then referred me to the manager….

Eventually we negotiated and the manager gave me 50 coffee cups….

Probably my best objection that actually turned into a yes happened when I
was flying to America.

I was on the plane and I asked one of the stewardesses if I could go to
the cockpit and sit in the pilot seat.

Now I was pretty much 100% sure they would say no…

However to my amazement she said yes!!!

She said once we land stick around for 10 minutes and you can go into the
cockpit…

Be careful what you ask for, because
sometimes they say yes…

Now is all this rejection therapy helping me??

Absolutely…

It’s given me a huge amount of confidence…

Believe it or not I’m actually quite a shy person especially in social
situations…

But recently I seem to have had a lot more confidence…

Especially in approaching strangers in social situations….

Also I am not worried about rejections, especially in a sales situation…

I guess the thing about rejection therapy is it normalises you to
objections..

They simply don’t bother my any more….

Want to give it a try…..

Reply to this email and tell me any objections you had recently….

Now I wonder what my next objection should be???

I’m already thinking up weird and wonderful things to ask when I’m in the
airport in a couple weeks time on my way to LA…

Maybe I should ask if I can go up into the control tower….

Sarah Staar IM Newsletter – Lying on a hospital bed in agony…

Saturday morning, I found myself lying on a French hospital bed in agony.

What happened?

Well, on Thursday I drove over to France, taking the Channel Tunnel.

It was a rather long drive, around five hours.

Everything seemed fine until I sat down to watch a movie on the couch and my back started to ache.

I didn’t think too much of it..

I put up with the pain…

I went to bed, and then woke up at two in the morning in absolute agony…

I tried,

Stretching exercises,

Walking around

Nothing seemed to work.

In the morning I even visited a French chiropractor but this was no help….

By Saturday morning I was at my wits end….

Dave took me to the hospital.

This was my first experience of a French hospital…

And my first experience of a French accident and emergency department.

In the UK, it can be several hours before somebody sees you…

So I wasn’t expecting to be seen quickly.

However, I was amazed…

We’d only been there for about 20 minutes, and I was already being seen by a doctor!!

The doctor sent me home with some painkillers and some muscle relaxant pills.

After being home for a few hours, I realised that the painkillers and the muscle relaxant pills weren’t working at all.

But then my phone rang…

It was Dr. Cynthia Boccara.

I met Cynthia on the internet marketers cruise…

She teaches

  • Stage authority…
  • How to have amazing presence…
  • How to walk properly…
  • And how to present on stage…

it was absolutely amazing!!

Now, Cynthia is also a chiropractor, so she knows a thing or two about bad backs.

Talk about somebody phoning you at the right time!

Straight away Cynthia took control of the situation.

She told me I had to put an ice pack on my back & take a cold shower.

She also walked me through several exercises.

I ended up being on the phone with her for about 45 minutes.

And you know what, after that 45 minutes the pain started to stop!!….

That night I carried on with the exercises and the ice pack on my back…

By the morning my back pain was almost gone.

It just shows when you have a mentor….

Somebody who really knows what they’re doing, it can be worth its weight in gold….

I’ve kept up with the cold showers, and went for a swim in an outdoor swimming pool here in France.

Yesterday I even went to the beach and swam in the sea at seven o’clock in the morning!!

I did get some strange looks from the locals, who thought I was quite mad swimming in the ocean in France at this time of year.

Anyway, I’ve had to delay my trip back to the UK…

There’s no way I can do a five hour car journey, as I’m worried that my back might play up again.

So, I’m coming back to the UK tomorrow, and taking the ferry instead.
