Sarah Staar’s Masterplan

I can hear the waves lapping and the distant cries of seagulls as I write this email……..

Here in the UK we’re enjoying a mini heatwave this week so I thought I’d make  the best of it.

So there I was sitting in my very hot office yesterday, with the air conditioning on full while speaking to Martin Avis on the phone.

Martin informed me that he was working from his garden and that prompted me to grab my laptop and head for the beach.

Sara on the beachwhite

Why work in a hot office when the beach is 10 minutes down the road?

After all I am an Internet marketer,  laptop lifestyle and all that….

Now I know I am not like regular people.

I am very driven and focussed – much more than most people

I am also very good (most days) at managing my time.

I am also very goal oriented…

This means that I get a lot done and I achieve a LOT

How do I do this ?

Well while I am having a quiet moment on the beach, with nothing too important buzzing around  inside my head, I like to sit down and put together “The Master Plan”.

This is how I do it….

(And at the risk of being a bit cheeky, if you aren’t doing something like this yourself then the plain frank, brutal, truth is you will always let yourself down.)

Step 1

Sort out what your really big goals are. Things you are enthusiastic about and that get you excited

What do you want to achieve ?

What do you want to be known for ?

What sort of lifestyle do you want and how do you want to Live ?

Where do you want to go ? Emigrate to Mars ? Trip into Space ?

(Don’t try to censor these by “ I will never be able to…)

Step 2

How much money do you need to earn and over what timescale to achieve those goals ?

Break it down by year – 5 years – 10 years

Set the intermediate objectives that help you realise the money you need to achieve those goals.

Step 3

Now create your own Route Map

Breakdown each item on your list.and then develop a  plan of attack.  In other words how are you going to achieve that goal.

If you want to buy that new car that costs say £100,000  how are you going to raise that money ?

What’s the easiest way you can raise £100,000??

You need to ask yourself what are the successful marketers doing.

What single task is most likely to get me that result?

The one consistent thing you must do is model what is already working for other

People – don’t try and reinvent the wheel.

Find a successful person and model what they are doing.

Step 4

Keeping on track !

What do I need to achieve TODAY

What do I need to achieve TOMORROW

NEXT WEEK

NEXT MONTH

THIS YEAR/NEXT YEAR – to meet your objectives and goals

Step 5

Keeping yourself committed

Now tell someone

Tell your partner, tell your kids, tell your friends, tell your worst enemy ! I tell Dave and my Mum..

I think it’s really important to do this. Otherwise it’s so easy to become comfortable and coast through life.

Coasting through life and having your dreams fade away is definitely not good for the spirit.

You Have To See This It’s So Cool…

Becoming a successful Internet marketer has changed my life it’s giving me the freedom to travel and never have to worry about money again.

However one negative thing that can happen is that you can lose touch with what is happening in the industry.  This is because it’s very easy to focus 100 percent just on your own business and start ignoring what everybody else is doing.

So I always try to go to as many Internet marketing seminars and workshops as I can just keep my toe in the water.

Armand Morin

Today I’m at a one day Workshop in London in London hosted by Armand Morin.  This is a workshop mainly for beginners  but I’m still learning stuff.

I bumped into an old friend of mine and we had lunch together and we discussed a traffic method which I think is so cool.

As some of you know one of my most powerful traffic methods is my business card.  I have my contact details on one side of the card and free offer,  my squeeze page,  on the reverse side of my card.

Whenever I go out to live seminars, workshops or meetups I make a point of trying to meet as many people as possible and also give them my  business card.

Here’s the weird thing.   60% of my top clients,  the ones that have spent over  $20,000 with me  first came into contact with me because of one of those business cards.

Ben who had lunch with me today was telling me about a two-day Workshop which is putting on in Central London. He wants to sell 100 tickets to his workshop and we were discussing different traffic methods he could use.

Facebook advertising

Retargeting

Direct mail

However the one that really stood out was network marketing.  Ben is going to as many Internet marketing seminars,  workshops and meet-ups as possible.

At these events he’s trying to meet as many people as possible and collecting business cards.  He is planning to follow up with these people later personally on the phone.

Now because Ben is actually meeting these people face to face he is probably going to get very high conversion rates.

If he’s got their business card he can phone them up,  send them emails and even send them text messages.

Oh yeah and he could also do a  Facebook marketing campaign just those people.

Sometimes low tech outside the box traffic techniques are the best and I’ve no doubt that he’ll get 100 people to his workshop simply by using old fashioned face to face marketing.

This was exactly the same strategy I used when I first built my email list and it turns out that these contacts are my best customers.

Face to face marketing was one of the traffic methods I discussed on my webinar on Thursday If you’d like to see a replay click on the link below.

This replay will be taken down at the end if this weekend!

gotta go now as the afternoon coffee break is almost over,

all the best,

Batteries Definitely Included

Well I hope you have all had a good break, or are about to have one.

I don’t know what it’s like in the US and when your holiday periods are.

I guess the big difference between the US and Europe is that most people get around 4 weeks paid holiday in Europe.

Taking the Tesla from the south coast of England all the way to Dundee, and back again, has been a lot of fun and a great way to test what the car is really like.

KathyAngela

Dundee, by the way, is not only where Kathy lives, but she also has Angela, one of my support staff from the US, staying with her.

So, to get back to the holiday theme, Angela is on her holidays seeing the sights of Scotland !!

And that was why I went so far north – 550 miles north – in case you were wondering….

Just to meet Angela and say “Hi” to one of the team.

For those of you who are interested.. Dundee is also the home of marmalade and Dundee cake.

Handing the Tesla Back

Tesla-Back

Handing the Tesla back and going back to the Evoque was a bit of a wrench to be honest.

I miss the fantastic acceleration of the Tesla, you just put your foot down and it accelerates away at about Warp Factor 10 !!

The Evoque accelerates at about the speed of a snail and I am afraid to admit I might have scared a few drivers when pulling out in front of them in the Evoque this morning !!

Before handing the car back I had a look around a Tesla showroom in Crawley with Dave.

Big decision now… Should I get a Tesla model S now or wait for the model 3 ?

List building Webinar tonight

Sign up for this live class now 🙂

Look I am sorry to go on about this..

But I just don’t get why people seem to be not interested in building their own list.

It was having a list that gave me the money to hire the Tesla and visit my team.

It was having the list that enabled me to make money while on my holiday road trip.

I made money on my wedding day- by having a mailing list !

I more than paid for the first Internet Marketers cruise I went on – a holiday cruise around the Caribbean – because I had a list..

As you know I made money while on my hospital bed – because of my list.

So…

I have a surprise feature for you this evening !

No its a surprise..

You have to log onto the webinar and watch it till the end to get the special surprise I have created for you…

Movies

Right now it’s the regular Olympics going on in RIO.

And haven’t the Brits done well !!

But I want you to think about the Winter Olympics – about 20 years ago, if you can remember that far back

EddieEagle

And one character, “Eddie the Eagle”

The character in this film Eddie wanted to be in the Olympics from the age of 5 years old but was useless at Sports.  Everybody and his family told him to give up,  get a real job.  sounds familiar…

If you’re an Internet marketer you need to see this film…

Inspired by true events, Eddie the Eagle is a feel-good story about Michael “Eddie” Edwards , an unlikely but courageous, and talentless, British ski-jumper who never stopped believing in himself – even as an entire nation was counting him out.

I’m a strong Believer in never giving up. If you want something badly enough you can get it. And that’s what this film is all about.

So a bit of holiday inspiration for you..

Books

Black Box Thinking: The Surprising Truth About Success

Written by: Matthew Syed

While on the road this week I listened to several audio books (that’s what autopilot is really for !) the one that really stood out was  “Black Box Thinking”.

Fascinating thing about this book is it kind of sums up why some people fail at Internet marketing whilst others succeed.

You have to read this yourself, but in essence it’s about fixing things and going onto success.

What links the Mercedes Formula One team with Google? What links Dave Braisford’s Team Sky and the aviation industry?

What is the connection between the inventor James Dyson and the footballer David Beckham? They are all Black Box Thinkers.

Whether developing a new product, honing a core skill or just trying to get a critical decision right, Black Box Thinkers aren’t afraid to face up to mistakes. In fact they see failure as the very best way to learn.

Rather than denying their mistakes, blaming others or attempting to spin their way out of trouble, these institutions and individuals interrogate errors as part of their future strategy for success.

One of the best books I’ve read for a long time – definitely recommended.

All the best,

Sarah Staar
